In the last 25 years, contemporary African art has experienced an enormous international upswing. This is evidenced by important exhibitions around the world and a growing number of artists with African roots whose works are part of the collections of renowned museums such as MOMA, Tate Gallery or Centre Pompidou. Specialised art fairs in New York, Cape Town, London or Paris and independent auctions are also an expression of this trend.
In the exhibition at Schloss Zweibrüggen, paintings and photographs by fourteen contemporary artists from Africa and its diaspora are presented in cooperation with ARTCO Galerie Aachen. Among them are such well-known names as El Loko, Maurice Mbikayi, Ransome Stanley, Manuela Sambo and others.
