Ritual: PIERRE LE RICHE

26 September - 25 October 2025

In this new series, Pierre le Riche creates textile artworks in which he expresses his imaginative ideas about queer bodies. In doing so, he explores the rituals they go through in order to conform and fit into society. He superimposes and combines body shapes and uses colour, texture and line to create a kind of “camouflage pattern”.

The works show how queer identity is both hidden and revealed through these visual layers. The tapestries thus become a reflection on visibility, conformity and belonging. The exhibition is complemented by several new ceramic works by the artist.

Pierre le Riche, born in South Africa in 1986, holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Cape Town. In addition to solo and group exhibitions in South Africa, Germany and the USA, he has also participated in fairs such as 1:54 in London and AKAA in Paris. He has created bespoke installations for Daimler and Cartier in the past. His artistic practice often blends sculpture and craft, and he does not limit himself to any particular medium.
