The Ghanaian painter Owusu Ankomah (1956–2025), who lived in Germany for three decades, ranks among the most prominent representatives of contemporary African art. His distinguished career was marked by significant exhibitions around the world, and there was hardly an important presentation of modern African art in which his work was not included.

Over the years, Owusu Ankomah increasingly devoted his artistic practice to spiritual and metaphysical themes. Spirituality became a profound source of inspiration for his art. In particular, the large format, condensed canvases of the MOVEMENT and MICROCRON series, often reduced to a striking black and white palette, represented a decisive turning point in his oeuvre, earning him wide international recognition. Works from these series, now rare, remain highly sought after by collectors and continue to command strong prices at international auctions.
