Rebekka Macht is a Berlin-based visual artist. Her work consists of large-scale portrait paintings through which she questions gender norms and conjures multilayered in-between spaces of ambiguity and circularity.

Macht is interested in the process of cyclical development in life. She invites her viewers into ambiguous spaces such as in between suffering and growth, pain and pleasure, strength and vulnerability, secular and etheric, societal structures and breaking free. She explores how individual and societal experiences shape our psyche and the possibility of mental, emotional and spiritual growth.

Her numerous self-portraits reflect a female gaze perspective on depictions of women and single motherhood while her androgynous portrait paintings question gender norms and open up intimate spaces of reflection.
